Sadly to say I’ve been ranking fast (too fast). I’m going to reach Admiral in the next few days. I did kind of speed through every mission and dodge smaller ones just so I can unlock missions which reward you with the highest skill points. But nevertheless I liked the experience and as a Star Trek fan, it’s a start in the right direction with Star Trek MMO’s. There was continuous downtime and downloading patches which thwarted on the gaming time that should have been fixed before the game was even released. I was kind disappointed and at the same time glad that Cryptic Studios actually work around the clock to fix some glitches and bugs.

There are MMO player’s who compare STO with WOW and EVE, and quite frankly, although it’s an MMO they are different in nature. STO’s comparison with EVE start and end in space, while WOW has about 5 years running to get the kinks out their system. It’s like comparing apples to oranges, but their both fruits. All MMO follow the same paradigms of skill development, equipments, currency, trade, power ups, etc. STO is still in its infancy and can become a larger community someday. Although I do wish there were more to do than ground combat, and space. Maybe some player planet requisitions or more ship customizations other than the ships in their respective tiers with only 3 different customizations of each ship. I prefer to make my own ship using spare parts. But all in all, it has been a good experience and when I am promoted to Admiral, i can just roam around and take my time doing missions. I doubt Cryptic Studios will release a game that has no life after reaching Admiral, that would mean I don’t need a subscription at all as I have finished the game in under a month =) I am excited as what would happen next or shall I say, patched next.

This was the same Valve that spent nearly ten years iterating on Team Fortress 2 and whose experiment in episodic gaming has forced us to reevaluate our expectations for future installments of Half-Life 2 using the “Star Wars–definition” of episodic.

So when Valve announced a direct sequel to the ground-breaking Left 4 Dead on what could only be considered an accelerated schedule for normal developers (and an impossibly accelerated schedule for Valve) we had every right to be shocked. Valve answered this concern with assurances that Left 4 Dead 2 was an entirely new game, with changes that could not be simply grafted onto the original. And the team was right! … But that’s the problem.

Here’s a general rule regarding Modern Warfare 2: if it wasn’t customizable in CoD4, it is now. You can still only have three kill streak rewards at a time, but after level 10, you’ll start unlocking new rewards which you can use in place of the defaults.
